- Which of these is the best drainage company?
- We do not answer that and you should be suspicious of any site that does. This list is alphabetical, nobody paid to be on it, and we have not inspected anybody's work. What we can give you is what is checkable: the register status, what kind of company it is, and the questions that separate a good quote from a cheap one.
- Why are plumbers and excavators on a drainage list?
- Because in this market they do the work. Roughly a third of the companies BBB lists under drainage are plumbers who clear and scope drains but decline full replacements, and another group are excavators who dig but subcontract the pipe. Knowing which kind you are calling saves a wasted visit — a plumber cannot replace your perimeter drain and an excavator may not pull the plumbing permit.
- Is a BBB rating a rating of their drainage work?
- No. It rates the business — how it responds to complaints, how long it has been accredited — across everything it does. A plumbing company with an A+ may never have replaced a perimeter drain. Treat it as one signal about the company, not as evidence about the trench.
- What is the one check worth doing?
- The WorkSafeBC clearance letter, because it is the only one about your own liability rather than their reputation. It is free, public, and takes about a minute.
